What is zeta potential?

The charge acquired by a particle or molecule in a specific medium is its zeta potential–resulting from the surface charge, concentration and types of ions present in the solution. As particles of similar charge will repel each other, those with high charges will resist flocculation and aggregation for longer periods making such samples more stable.
