Software Instantly Analyzes Millions of Cells, Powers Gating in n-dimensions
California (January 17, 2012) - Kaluza 1.2 from Beckman Coulter, Inc., an enhanced version of the company’s highly acclaimed flow cytometry software, adds new multiple visualization tools and processes data at blazing speeds, allowing scientists to focus on their research.A quick and simple interface with radial menus makes use easier than ever before. The ability to see animated data in multiple dimensions facilitates outstanding visualization. Additionally, millions of cells can be analyzed in an instant through the simultaneous use of hundreds of graphic processors, delivering lightning-fast processing speed.
With a minimum number of clicks, researchers can generate a compensation matrix from a set of controls, choose from a variety of algorithms to generate the matrix and export the compensated data as a CSV file. Batch analysis capability enables processing of multiple files automatically with minimal input.
Kaluza 1.2 also takes visualization and gating to a superior level. By using gates on the Radar Plot, scientists can classify events and gate in n-dimensions. This function is also easy-to-use: To understand the gating strategy, just browse through its Gate Table, which displays the entire gating hierarchy using Excel-like functions right inside Kaluza reports. The Comparison Plot enables creation of a snapshot to compare statistics across multiple datasets with as few as two clicks.
Major product enhancements include a choice of autocompensation algorithms and auto-detection of samples; automatic batch analysis of file lists or datasets; comparison plot, gate hierarchy, plot customization, increased bivariate plot resolutions, black background and other visualization tools; gates that are independent across multiple datasets; improvements in autocompensation and statistics calculations; and the use of user-defined expressions in data processing.
“Kaluza software provides visualization tools, speed and an innovative simplicity to the flow community,” noted Mario Koksch, director of product management at Beckman Coulter. “Beckman Coulter employs cutting-edge technology that allows for real-time analysis of complex multicolor files so researchers can spend more time on discovery.”
Kaluza is offered in a variety of languages to facilitate intuitive flow cytometry analysis for users around the world. Downloadable language packs for Japanese and Simplified Chinese are now available online, with more languages to follow soon.
Kaluza Flow Cytometry Analysis Software version 1.2 is for research use only and is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit) operating systems. Performance can be further enhanced by the use of an NVIDIA Tesla C2050 accelerator. The software loads files that are compliant with Flow Cytometry Standards 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1 and is offered for both networked and stand-alone computers. Examples of Kaluza’s unique data analysis tools can be viewed online, where a free, fully functional trial version of the software can be requested.
