What is count rate relative to laser diffraction?
This is the number of photons detected (typically on “per second” basis). The count rate may assist in determining sample quality by monitoring stability over time and can also be used to set instrument parameters such as the attenuator setting. For a sufficient analysis signal, the count rate must be greater than some minimum value however, all detectors have a maximum count rate where the response remains linear. If the count rate is not automatically adjusted, it is important to follow OEM recommendations when making any adjustment.
