Official Rules for the Application for a Beckman Coulter Life Sciences SPRI Grant
Eligibility
No purchase necessary to enter or receive a SPRI Grant for Genomic Research (the “Grant”). Entries must be submitted via the online form located at https://www.beckman.com/reagents/genomic/collaboration-grant-program/spri-grants (“Entry Form”). The closing date for intake for the first draw will be June 15th of the current year. The closing date for the second draw will be December 15th of the current year. All applications must be submitted in the English language. The Grant is open only to life science researchers, who are 18 years of age or older and who have submitted a completed application via the online form. This Grant program is void where prohibited by law. Individuals or entities classified as healthcare professionals or healthcare organizations under any applicable laws or industry codes may not participate in this program, as this program is exclusively reserved for research use only projects. Beckman Coulter, Inc. (“Sponsor) will provide the Grant only to the employer of the winning applicant. The person submitting the application (“Applicant”) is therefore entering on behalf of their employer, which, if selected, will be the recipient of the Grant (“Potential Grant Recipient” or after award, “Grant Recipient”). By applying for a Grant, the Applicant certifies that they have obtained any and all permissions required from the Potential Grant Recipient to submit such application on the Potential Grant Recipient’s behalf and the submission does not violate violating any policies of the Potential Grant Recipient.
All entries will become the property of Beckman Coulter, Inc. Entrants are responsible for obtaining the appropriate employer approval prior to entry, and for legal review of their entries to remove confidential information. No entries will be guaranteed confidentiality. Beckman Coulter shall not be responsible or liable for any disclosure of confidential information submitted by Applicant.
Confidentiality
Submissions by Applicant are public disclosures to Sponsor and will not be subject to confidentiality provisions. Do not include confidential information in the Entry Form for the Grant.
Grant Description
Four Grants will be awarded, semi-annually, totaling 8 in each year. Potential Grant Recipients will be notified as to which draw applies to their submission through email confirmation from Sponsor. Each Grant consists of $3,000 USD (or local currency equivalent) in genomics catalog products. Valuation of the items provided as part of the Grant is based on the list price of the product. The Grant award must be redeemed within one year of being informed of winning status. The Grant is valid for use on a variety of reagents with the total value of the reagents not to exceed $3,000 (USD) or currency equivalent and the total of the Grant not to exceed $3,300, including shipping and handling. Shipping and handling will be paid and managed by the Sponsor (up to $300). All taxes, including, without limitation, federal, state, and local taxes on or in connection with the Grant award are the sole responsibility of the Grant Recipient. No cash award alternative to the Grant will be awarded and the Grant is not transferable. The Sponsor reserves the right to substitute any award of equal or greater value in its sole discretion. The Grant award is conditioned on Grant Recipient signing a release statement permitting Sponsor to publicize that Grant Recipient received the Grant.
Selection of Grant Recipients
Each Potential Grant Recipient may only submit one application per draw period. There is no limitation on the number of Potential Grant Recipients from the same entity. The Grant awards will be chosen by the Sponsor based on scientific interest, impact, feasibility, and geographic location, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion. In the event the Grant Recipient cannot receive the Grant award for any reason, the Grant award shall be awarded to an alternate Grant Recipient.
Data Processing
The completion of the Entry Form requires the Applicant to provide certain personal data to the Sponsor. The purpose of processing personal data received in the Entry Form by the Sponsor is for the Sponsor to evaluate and select the winner of the Grant and to inform the winner of the award of the Grant. Personal data collected on the Entry Form and processed by the Sponsor are: first name, last name, business email address, business phone, company name, the company address. The data is collected from the information obtained from the Applicant on the Entry Form. There are no other sources of information. The data provided on the Entry Form will only be accessed by the Sponsor and its employees and representatives to the extent necessary to fulfill their responsibilities as they relate to the processing of the Entry Form and the Grant. By submitting the Entry Form, the Applicant agrees that the Applicant’s personal data may be disclosed and transferred outside the European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA) for the purpose of administering the Grant process. If personal data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, the Sponsor will ensure that appropriate contractual measures (e.g. using standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission) are applied to the transfer, the transfer is lawful and that the processing and confidentiality follow applicable laws. The data is retained for as long as it is necessary for choosing the Grant recipients, informing the Grant recipients and delivering of the Grant award. The data will be deleted afterward. Applicants consent to their identity being revealed in announcements via the Sponsor’s internal communications channels. Other Terms and Conditions
The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Grant program in its sole discretion. By participating in the Grant program, Applicants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor and Sponsor’s affiliates and subsidiaries, and their employees, officers, directors, agents, and representatives from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Grant program, including any errors in the administration of the Grant, printing errors, and technical errors, as well from receipt or use of any Grant awarded and the disclosure of their respective names in connection with the Sponsor’s promotion of the Grant program.
Return of any Grant award notification as undeliverable will result in forfeiture of the Grant award. Legal recourse is excluded. The Sponsor and Sponsor’s affiliates and subsidiaries, and their officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives are not responsible and shall not be liable for: (a) electronic, hardware or software program, network, internet or computer malfunctions, failures or difficulties of any kind, including without limitation server malfunctions or by any error (human or otherwise) which may occur in the processing of Grant applications; or (b) any condition caused by events beyond the control of the Sponsor that may cause the application and award process to be disrupted or corrupted. Any attempt by an Applicant to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Grant program may be a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from such person to the extent permitted by law.
These Official Rules are governed by, and must be construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Indiana. Applicants agree that all disputes arising from or in connection with this Grant program must be heard in the state or federal court of the State of Indiana, the United States, of the county where the Sponsor is located.
